What is Phoneless?

Phoneless is a set of tools that can help you be more present and fight the dopamine rush of scrolling and swiping on your phone to pass the time.

How does it work?

The guiding principle is to apply what we know works for other addictive behaviors (e.g. smoking) to fight phone dependence. The short-term goal is to provide an app that gives you the ability to set goals, suggests challenges, and rewards you with badges for every goal or challenge met.

Who is behind Phoneless?

It's a one-person team currently. My name is Jean (John). Here is a link to my professional website. Any opinions expressed are solely my own and do not express the views or opinions of my employer.

Why did you create Phoneless?

I believe many of us, including myself, spend more time on the phone than we should. Excessive phone usage leads to anxiety, stress, sleeping disorders, you name it. I have been monitoring my screentime for a while, but I have struggled to reduce it for any long stretch of time. I built phoneless to reduce my phone usage and hopefully help others do the same.
